Cookbooks for the Chocolate Connoisseur

As a die hard chocolate lover, nothing can be better than a cookbook chock full of decadent, rich recipes to feed those cravings. The internet is full of chocolate recipes from homemade or celebrity cooks. But where else can a person get quality chocolate recipes than from a chocolate manufacturer directly? Within this post are three suggestions for great cookbook from well known bean-to-bar chocolate producers in the United States.

Some more recognizable chocolate makers include Ghirardelli, Hershey’s and Nestle brands, as well a few craft chocolate makers. Each of these companies has an impressive collection of cookbooks.

Published in 2006, NestleĢ’s toll house all-time favorite cookie and baking recipes by Meredith Books is a great cookbook for a baking enthusiast. The cookbook contains hundreds of recipes from traditional cookie recipes to breads, cheesecakes, and pies. Of course, a Nestle cookie cookbook should contain their most famous recipe of all time: Nestle Toll House Cookies. This recipe is a staple in American kitchens for a great tasting, classic chocolate chip cookie.

One of America’s oldest chocolate makers is The Ghirardelli Company, established in 1850s in California. Ghirardelli’s chocolate cookbook: recipes and history from America’s premier chocolate maker Ten Speed Press is a beautifully crafted cookbook. In it are numerous decadent chocolate confectionery recipes including cookies, cakes, brownies, bars, and cupcakes. Hershey’s is another long enduring American chocolate company who has published a successful cookbook. Hershey’s 1934 cookbook: revised and expanded with chocolate recipes brought up to date for use in today’s kitchen Josh Gaspero – SMITHMARK – 1993 is a must have for the chocolate lover. The cookbook provides a nostalgic reflection of years past with the photography and simple recipes featured in the cookbook. Take a trip down memory lane and whip up a recipe from your grandmother’s kitchen all over again.

Mast Brothers
Rick and Michael Mast are brothers who have been making craft chocolate for years and selling it in beautiful packaging. Their book is highly touted by famous chefs and has lots of chocolate recipes for both savory and sweet treats. Some of their savory recipes include pan-seared scallops and a Coq a Vin with cocoa. The sweet desserts include brownies, bars, cookies, milkshakes, and whoopie-pies. This cookbook is a wonderful addition to a craft chocolate lovers’ cookbook collection.
