Purchase SWEET ON YOU
Celebrity pastry chef Daneilla Rossi has been in a funk for about a year. Ever since the passing of her beloved grandmother, Daniella has temporarily lost her passion for baking that her grandmother had instilled in her. Feeling down and blue, Daniella takes the streets of San Francisco to clear her mind when she suddenly spots a homeless boy dumpster diving for food. Daniella follows the boy and witnesses him entering an abandoned building he and the rest of his family has been squatting in. Seeing this boy and his family in dire conditions, Daneilla is inspired to purchase the building and turn into a soup kitchen. This potential new project sparks life and the fire back inside Daneilla and finally her excited over something for the first time in months.
Except Daniella’s plans don’t go as smoothly as she’d planned and hits a speed bump when she finds out that businessman Nico Cruz also shows interest in the property. But being the determined and feisty Italian that she is, Daniella doesn’t let Nico stop her from pursuing her dream and sets on working her charms on the billionaire real estate magnate. What Daniella doesn’t know is that Nico has his own personal reasons for wanting the building and will do and pay whatever price for the building. Even if it means breaking Daniella's heart in the process.
The chemistry was instant between these two. Daniella was opinionated, passionate, and determined. She was definitely the fireball type of woman that Nico wasn’t accustomed to and would pose a challenge for him. Nico was every bit the serious business man and more than determined to get what he wanted. Sparks definitely flew the instant the couple met and I enjoyed watching Daniella and Nico teeter between the enemies to lovers lone.
SWEET ON YOU also focused on a secondary story and characters that had me totally engrossed in and I found myself even more interested in their story instead of the main characters. Marley, Daniella’s assistant, gets caught up in her own little romance after she agrees to let her friend set her up on a blind date. Marley has been unrequitedly in love with Daniella’s older brother, Tony, for years. Her match making friend hooks her up with a motorcycle riding accountant who’s as fanatical about comic books as she is. Marley immediately denies herself from connecting with Brian, even though he might be more perfect for her than Tony will ever be. Their story is adorably cute and I found myself wanting to read more about their romance than the Daniella and Nico’s. This was probably the main reason why this book only received 3 stars in stead of 4. As much as I loved the secondary storyline, I just found it odd that the author spent so much time with the secondary characters instead of focusing mainly on Daniella and Nico. This is supposed to be their book and it seemed like the stars of the book ended up taking the backseat on this ride.
Even with my little gripe over Daniella and Nico's story playing second fiddle to the secondary characters overall, SWEET ON YOU delivered on what I was expecting it to be. It was sugar and spice and everything nice…and naughty. The characters were a lot of fun and flirty and really enjoyable to read. After reading SWEET ON YOU, I'm now more curious as to what other characters Perry has in her Laurel Heights series. This was my first Kate Perry book and probably will not be my last. Even though this book is the sixth in the Laurel Heights series, it can still be read as a stand alone.
So if you are contemporary romance reader and are in need of a book to wet your appetite for a quick, fun and light hearted romance, then SWEET ON YOU is probably one book you'll want to add to your TBR.

| Kate Perry |
Kate has tangoed at midnight with a man in blue furry chaps, dueled with flaming swords in the desert, and strutted on bar tops across the world and back. She’s been kissed under the Eiffel Tower, had her butt pinched in Florence, and been serenaded in New Orleans. But she found Happy Ever After in San Francisco with her Magic Man.
Kate's the bestselling author of the Laurel Heights Novels, as well as the Family and Love and Guardians of Destiny series. She's been translated into several languages and is quite proud to say she's big in Slovenia. All her books are about strong, independent women who just want love.
Most days, you can find Kate in her favorite cafĂ©, working on her latest novel. Sometimes she's wearing a tutu. She may or may not have a jeweled dagger strapped to her thigh…

I love when books have good secondary characters. I think I would rather have too much of them than not enough. I can see where you're coming from though. The secondary characters are needed, but shouldn't run the show :)
