Goodbye FeedBurner, Hello FeedCat

As some of you may have already heard, Google has decided to shut down its APIs on October 20th. We're not techie folks so we're not really quite sure what APIs are but what we do know is that when we check our subscriber count on FeedBurner we are given a big fat ZERO. Seeing that ZERO people will be receiving our feeds is a very, very bad thing! This basically means that if you are a subscriber to our blog via email you will no longer be receiving our post feeds

To remedy this problem, we here are Talk Supe have decided to do away with email subscriptions via FeedBurner.

This means that …

Now for those who look forward to receiving our feeds via email (we hope there there are quite a few of you out there), don't fret. We have found another website, Feedcat.net, that will deliver our post feeds to you just like what FeedBurner did. With just TWO quick and easy steps, you are guaranteed to continue receiving notices about our book reviews, giveaways, weekly meme's, author interviews, etc.. So we hope that you will take a minute of your time a re-subscribe to Talk Supe via FeedCat. We wouldn't want you to be missing out on what's going on our blog!

  1. Aww, that's a shame. But I'm happy that you did your due diligence and found another way to continue getting the feed to subscribers. :)

  2. Thank you for the suggestion! I was stunned when I saw the zero in my feedburner account. I'll be registering on FeedCat right away. What's happening to you, Google?

    1. I know! I was confused then I saw it about 4 days ago. At first I thought it might have been a momentary glitch but then it just stayed that way then I read a few articles about it. Then all of a sudden peeps on twitter kept talking about it and I figured I needed to find an alternative and quick.

  3. Thanks for finding another option! I'm not sure what Feedburner is up to as they keep saying they're working on the issue, but meanwhile our accounts still show zero subscribers! I expect more from Google... :(

    1. It seems they just keep cutting services that people are actually still using. It's a real bummer.

  4. I think I"ll be moving to Feedcat as well. I have the wordpress email thingy but I also wanted an alternative for rss. But honestly, it seems like everything with google does some crappy shit. Pisses me off!

    1. I created a WP account a few months ago as a backup. I just imported my posts there just in case. I've been thinking about going to WP but I just hate the thought of losing my 1000+ GFC followers :(

    1. Good. I freaked out because if none of my subscriptions would be emailed then I would be really bored at work. LOL.

    1. I looked into Feedcat and Mail Chimp. Mail Chimp seemed a little more complicated and more work. Feedcat is fast, free and easy!

  8. Thanks for your awesome article! I just contacted Feedcat.net and I was informed they are going to revamp their system starting on Monday. Not sure why this makes me nervous. :(

I guess I'll offer both systems on my blog until Oct 20, or until we get an official word of what's going to happen to Feedburner *sad julie*

*le sigh* as if we didn't have enough to deal with in our blogs LOL :)

    1. Maybe Feedcat will be revamping to get their systems ready for the influx of new users. I'm sure lots of Feedburner users will be scrambling to find an alternative.

    1. I need to figure out how to get a little widget box like how the old one was for the email subscription thing. I know what you mean, people who are new to the site probably won't know that they only need to mouse over the little counter thing to enter their email address. so frustrating with all the Google changes.

  11. I don't see the feedcat counter that it tells me to mouse over ...can someone help me?
