Dirty Little Secret is a weekly meme hosted by Under the Covers. Every Thursday they get to know other bloggers and readers more intimately by asking them a question hoping to reveal their dirty little secrets.
CimmaronThis Week's QuestionWhat books have recently made you cry?
I can only think of one book that I've read in the past few months that had me balling my eyes out and that would be Colleen Hoover's Slammed. I can't remember any other time where I had to put the book down, step away and cry my eyes out because a book made me feel so emotionally wrecked. For the most part I get teary eye and take a quick breather but it wasn't the case with Slammed. Colleen Hoover's story was just so real and made me feel the emotions that her characters were feeling. Without giving away any spoilers of the book, Slammed tells the story of 18 year old, Lake, and the struggles she goes through after abruptly losing her father and then finding out months later that her mother has a terminal illness. Not only does she have to deal with coming to terms about possibly losing another parent but Lake also has to take on the responsibility of being the parent to her little brother. Just thinking about losing my own parents at that age and taking on the responsibilities of caring for my younger siblings really made me think if I would have been strong enough as Lake to take on so much. The sequel, Point of Retreat, left me a hot mess as well. I read these books back to back and I feel like I ended up using a whole box of Kleenex because I cried to much.
Now that we've shared our Dirty Little Secret with you, what's yours?

I have not read that book before. I have read books that have made me shed a few tears though.

I completely agree with you! This book had me crying non stop! Usually I'm able to just put it down for a second and then I'll be good but with this book it seemed like non stop tears.

I've yet to pick this book up, but I've heard so many great things, It's definitely on my TBR. And I agree with you, just even the idea of losing one's parents and having to take care of your siblings is enough to make a person meltdown. I'll be looking forward to reading about Lake, she sounds like a strong character :) Thanks for sharing, and stopping by My DLS Cimmaron :))
