Waiting on Wednesday #14

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill atBreaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Braine
Splintered
A.G. Howard
Amulet Books
January 2013

For sixteen years, Alyssa Gardner has lived with the stigma of being descended from Alice Liddell -- the real life inspiration for Lewis Carroll's famed novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. But cruel jokes about dormice and tea parties can’t compare to the fact that Alyssa hears the whispers of bugs and flowers ... the same quirk which sent her mother to a mental institution years before.

When her mother takes a turn for the worse and the whispers grow too strong for Alyssa to bear, she seeks the origins of their family curse. A set of heirlooms and a moth tied to an unusual website lead Alyssa and her gorgeous best friend/secret crush, Jeb, down the rabbit hole into the real Wonderland, a place more twisted and eerie than Lewis Carroll ever let on.

There, creepy counterparts of the original fairytale crew reveal the purpose for Alyssa’s journey, and unless she fixes the things her great-great-great grandmother Alice put wrong, Wonderland will have her head.

Don't you find this interesting? At the same time I am a little nervous about books based on classic literature because it sets the bar so high that we expect nothing but the best from the author. I've had my share of unsavory updates but I'm hoping the the story would be as gorgeous as the cover.

Finale
Hush, Hush #4
Becca Fitzpatrick

Nora is more certain than ever that she is in love with Patch. Fallen angel or no, he is the one for her. Her heritage and destiny may mean that they will always be enemies, but there is no turning her back on him. But now they face their biggest challenge. Can their love survive a seemingly insurmountable divide. And in the end, will there be enough trust left to rebuild what has been broken? The lines are drawn - but which sides are they on?
Becca Fitzpatrick Hush, Hush series is actually one of the few YA books that I've enjoyed in the last few years. I was instantly drawn to the cover of Hush, Hush and bought the book without reading reviews online. I was so relieved that I liked the first book and that book 2 was released just a few days after I finished Hush, Hush. Patch is one dark and sexy Fallen Angel and Nora was a female YA heroine that I did not want to strangle. Hopefully, Finale really will be the final book in this series. It was only planned on being a trilogy but I was a little pleased at the end of book 3, Silence [REVIEW HERE], that we'd get at least one more book with Nora and Patch.  It should be the final book right since it's titled Finale. Unless Fitzpatrick surprises us again and decides to title the next book, Encore.

So tell us, what book or books are you anxiously waiting for?

  4. I will definitely pick up Splintered as I'm quite partial to fairy tale retellings. But I'm not so sure about Finale. I haven't been a fan of the Hush, Hush series since book one so I'll probably steer clear of that. Thanks for sharing though! ;)

    Btw, here’s my WoW post:

I loved the first two books but the third fell flat for me, so I'm hoping this one is really good. Thanks for sharing!! :)
