What happens in Vegas…can lead to romance.

It took one wild night for Sergeant Jeremy Addison to realize that Vegas? Was a bad idea.

Bloody. Bruised. Dehydrated. Abandoned in the desert, and left to stagger down the road. The only way this leave could get worse was if his savior was his ex-best friend’s sister…and the girl he’d loved since childhood.

The last person Erica expected to find on the roadside was her high school crush. She hadn’t seen Jeremy in seven years—ever since the night he said he loved her, and she ran away. Losing him then had been a mistake, but wanting him now could be catastrophic if he discovered the secret that chased every other man from her life. But with a tall, tattooed Marine determined to prove he’s always been faithful, can Erica resist his advances…or will she surrender ground and give love a try?

Not going to lie - I purchased this book because of the cover. As soon as I saw this, I hit the Amazon 1-Click button so fast you'd think someone had set my a** on fire. Delicious abs, tattoos, tanned skin and dog tags - you know you'd also be tempted to buy it synopsis unseen. Try Me was actually the first of two books that I read from Entangled Publishing's Ever Afters imprint over the weekend. The second being Divinely Ruined which was also written by Diane. I read these two back to back and I must say that after reading them, Diane Alberts has been bumped up to my automatic buy author list.

“One look and he still felt that same desperate, agonizing emptiness; the hollow knowledge that he loved her, and she’d never love him. Never even consider it.”

So this book isn't just about a drool worthy cover. The content inside was very good and Diane Alberts style of writing makes it easy for you to like her characters and care about the outcome of their story. As you can see from the cover, the male protagonist Jeremy Addison is one hot Marine. He's macho, proud and ready to throw down when provoked. But when it comes to the woman that he’s loved since the first grade all of Jeremy’s insecurities about his past returns. Even after he was rejected seven years ago, Jeremy still carried a torch for this woman. It was a bit heart breaking to see this tough guy who had been out fighting in a war feel unworthy and I hated seeing him throw himself a pity party but I couldn't help myself from sympathizing with him and was even a little more eager for him to get that happily ever after ending.

“He’d been more than her crush. He’d been her best friend.”

So exactly who is this woman that Jeremy’s been pinning for all these years? Well the lucky lady would be Erica, who also happens to be the younger sister of Jeremy's best friend, Tommy. Erica knew of Jeremy's feelings for her and and secretly felt the same for him but when a horrible lie tears Tommy and Jeremy apart she feels obligated to stand by her brother even after Jeremy had confessed his love for her. Seven years later, she's on the same boat as Jeremy because she also hasn't been able to forget about him. And without giving away any spoilers I totally understood her fears of rejection and why she was scared to get close with Jeremy again. The secrets she held and reasons why she wanted to keep them from Jeremy was legitimate and as I woman I would have had the same fears.

"I meant what I said. I've loved you my whole life. I couldn't stop thinking about you. I've never stopped thinking about you."

The chemistry between Erica and Jeremy was electric and you could see from the very beginning that these two were just meant to be together. The fact that they suffered from the same self-worth issues was enough evidence to show how they could show each other how worthy they were. Try Me is a very short story so the fact that the had known each other so well in the past worked really well. Nothing felt too rushed since the feelings Erica and Jeremy had felt for each other never left them so when they do unite it just feels right. I did love the sweet epilogue that pulled everything together to give the couple a deserved happily ever after. Again, I have to say that I really enjoyed Diane's writing, she makes characters who seem real and the situations and emotions they feel are organic. So if you're in the mood to read a sweet short story with a hot Marine, please download a copy of Try Me as soon as possible.

“Who was my favorite boy band back then?”
“Backstreet Boys. Especially Kevin. You liked them dark and broody.
You didn’t like NSync, but you like Justin Timberlake. Do you still?”
“Uh. Yeah.”
