Dirty Little Secret #11

Dirty Little Secret is a weekly meme hosted by Under the Covers. Every Thursday they get to know other bloggers and readers more intimately by asking them a question hoping to reveal their dirty little secrets.
This week's question:
If you could read one book again for the first time, which one would you pick and why?

Cimmaron:

This question is easy! I'd happily go back to being a Black Dagger Brotherhood virgin and experience my first time with Dark Lover all over again. Dark Lover was simply awesome and introduced me to a whole new world of vampires. I was instantly drawn to J.R. Ward's dark, deadly and damaged vampires. Just like Dark Lover's heroine, Beth Randall, I was instantly attracted to Wrath. He's intense, moody, possessive, and simply intoxicating. He's the King of the Vampires, a fierce warrior and drop dead sexy with his tall stature, bulging muscles, dark hair and that deep and grumbling voice. Oh, just speaking of him makes me want to get lost in Ward's gritty world of Vampires all over again and again.

Braine:

I honestly had a hard time with this question! I wanted to go with   Dark Lover  or Darkfever but then I remembered this book that I read a decade ago. I've read GGMarquez's other book, Love in the Time of Cholera, which I truly love but this book was another level of fiction, GGMarquez went artiste with this one. The prose was magnificent, the metaphors and imagery that GGMarquez used in One Hundred Years of Solitude had my brain on overdrive. This book and the people from the Barrio of Macondo touched me and the Buendia family kinda reminded me of my own dysfunctional but awesome kinfolk. I am the type who rereads books very rarely but this & Love is on that list.

Now that we've shared our Dirty Little Secret
with you, what's yours?

  1. I liked BDB books but they didn't totally change my reading life.lol I seen so many people pick this book. I love them, I really do but it just wasn't life changing for me.

And Braine, never heard of that book.

    1. Dark Lover wasn't necessarily "life changing" per se but it did introduce me to this awesome new world of vampires. I liked how Ward's vampires are their own species, can reproduce and even age. It's dark, bloody, gritty and Ward always finds a way to hit me emotionally with all the books.

    2. What can I say, I have eccentric taste. I'm the Librarian (Vain's nickname for me) after all. LOL Thanks for stopping by Amber

  2. After I read Twilight, which I won't elaborate on, I read BDB then Night Huntress. And though BDB sold me on the adult paranormal genre, Bones had me never turning back! LOL. He's just so snarky and sexy and I love the accent.

But BDB was so dark, gritty and SUPER HOT compared to Twilight. I loved Dark Lover!

  15. Okay!! So of course my fellow smut loving friend Cimmaron and I have chosen the same book series to go back and read!:) No shocker there. In order to get in the Wraith & Bones sandwich though she will have to wait her turn. I'm next!:) lol

Braine, I know you love BDB too, but your choice is so sweet and wholesome, it makes me feel cheap that you chose something much more enlightening than I did!:) Have a wonderful weekend girlies!!

P.s. Favorite quote of the day "miss Vain didn't say you can suck it, I did!" ROTFL..

    I love you girls!!;)
