I don't know why I hadn't done this post before but it's about time I write about my favorite Vampire Viking…

Eric Northman was first introduced in the first Southern Vampire Mysteries (Sookie Stackhouse novel), Dead Until Dark. Being over 1,000 years old, Eric has risen to a fairly powerful position as Sheriff of Louisiana Area 5, as well as owner of tourist bar, Fangtasia, in Shreveport, LA. Sookie's impression of Eric in the first novel was someone who she feared and disliked. As the series continues, Eric turns out to be someone who was constantly saving or trying to save Sookie's life. (Guess the big, bad vampire wasn't so bad after all!) On top of that, the man would present her with gifts i.e - new gravel on her driveway, cell phone, new jacket to replace her blood stained one, tight and barely there dresses.

But what I loved most about Eric, aside from the fact that he's apparently a great lover, the ancient Vamp cracked me up. Honestly, who wouldn't love a man who shows up in pink spandex to attend an orgy or admits taking an ESL class in the 70's or liked to braid you hair? Ridiculously adorable! OK, so the man can be down right possessive but possessiveness is a given to when it comes to vampires, weres and any other supernaturals.

As for the HBO series, I think that Alexander Skarsgard is doing a fine job portraying Eric Northman and he's a true Scandinavian! No complaints here folks! I think Alan Ball nailed his character by choosing the Swedish actor. 

Here's my favorite Eric Northman scene from the series. I'm hoping that a shower scene from Dead to the World will make it one screen and can replace this. Crossing my fingers and praying to Buddha that'll happen.
